Pardon My Audacity met back up with New York Times Best-selling author and our favorite erotic trailblazer Zane on her new show The Jump Off. We had the chance to sit down and catch up with our favorite author to get a great scoop.
Jas: Last time we talked you were doing the literary sip and sign here in Atlanta and we were into a deep convo on love and relationships. Tell the readers and fan what’s been going on since then.
Zane: What’s new? Wow, since then, I have had a couple of books come out: Z-Rated: Chocolate Flava 3, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, and Everything Fades Away. Addicted completed filming but I have no idea when it will be released. Zane’s The Jump Off is now airing on Cinemax. Lots of good things.
Jas: What inspired you to create the show ‘The Jump Off”?
Zane: No one has ever done it. That is the main reason why I do anything. I prefer to be a trailblazer and not a follower. No one has ever done a show solely based on men of color, which is why movies that came out decades ago like The Wood, The Best Man, and The Brothers are still discussed. It is a shame that it is such an overlooked demographic but not anymore. I am extremely proud of that fact.
Jas: So tell the readers a little bit about the story line.
Zane: Zane’s The Jump Off is about five fraternity brothers in their early to mid-thirties residing in Miami, FL. It is about their bonding with each other and the females in their lives. It shows both the diversity and the depth of men that is rarely examined in scripted shows.
Jas: The actors that are playing the characters in your new series did you have a part in choosing them? If so, did you enjoy that part?
Zane: Yes, as the Executive Producer of the show, most definitely. I had to watch hundreds of auditions and narrow it down to the final cast. It was very exciting but a lengthy process because I am a stickler for finding the perfect people for each role.
Jas: When will the show premiere?
Zane: The show started airing on March 29th, 2013 and new episodes come on every Friday at 11 PM on Cinemax.
Jas: What was your favorite part of the series?
Zane: The creative process is my favorite part, topped with the joy of production. A lot of people find production stressful; it breathes life into me. I work very well under pressure and accomplishing a goal at the end is very rewarding.
Jas: Any juicy secrets for the readers?
Zane: All that I will say is that nothing is as it seems and no one will ever be able to guess what is going to happen next-LOL
Jas: What’s next for Zane?
Zane: More books, more movies, more shows, and the onset of my product lines. Busy Bodies: Chocolate Flava 4 comes out in August but there will be more before and after that.
Jas: Tell the readers where they can find you and get in contact with you.
Zane: Via email at firstname.lastname@example.org and on Facebook at AuthorZane and on Twitter at Planetzane.
