WCW: Hillary Clinton

hcWCW: Hillary Rodham Clinton

**column is written by Terrence Hodge and reflects his views on WCW**

Welcome to the NEW AGE and be thankful that you’re not radioactive. While there are, have, and will be great women on this planet; they never achieve the recognition that their male contemporaries do. I aim to change that, one week at a time. If you’ve been keeping up with Pardon My Audacity (and why wouldn’t you be?) you’re aware that WCW is no longer reduced to silly crushes. Don’t get me wrong, my ode to Marsha Ambrosius last week was as serious as the gas light on in the car and you’re down to you last $5.00; but I digress…

Women are not just objects of our affections. I think the world needs to be reminded of that. This column will make you aware of phenomenal women from the past as well as those current in popular culture. Why the past? How will you know where you are going if you don’t know where you have been? While you ponder that I’ll tell you that Oprah Winfrey was such an easy one that I felt that she could be written at any time and the message will still be the same. Michelle Obama, first black first lady, too easy also. Her story is still being written, and she disappoints me greatly, again another time.

Today I’d like to introduce you to Hillary Rodham Clinton. Hillary was born Hillary Diane Rodham in Chicago, IL in October 26, 1947 a baby boomer. What most people don’t know is that prior to 1968 Mrs. Clinton was a member of the Republican party, I know but the 60’s where a confusing time for kids. Also, you tend to follow your parents until you break out on your own. So in that way Hillary is normal. She was raised in a conservative Methodist household. She was a parent’s dream: straight A student, Brownie, and then Girl Scout, as well as a star athlete.

Hillary was destined for politics, at age thirteen she helped canvass South Side Chicago following the very close 1960 U.S. presidential election, where she found evidence of electoral fraud against Republican candidate Richard “I Am Not A Crook” Nixon. Oddly enough that isn’t what turned her from the Republican Party nor was her meeting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in 1962. You see, being a democrat and republican meant something different prior to the 60’s. Abraham Lincoln (the great emancipator) was a republican, I was shocked by that too. Her ideals, not unlike my own, were shaped by her father and high school history teacher, Her sense on social injustice was framed by her mother who was a civil rights leader.

Hillary Rodham enrolled at Wesley College in 1965 and was even president of the Wesley Young Republicans until 1968 when her views about the direction civil rights were going in the United States and the Vietnam War, which not unlike today’s constant crisis in the Middle East, a place the United States should’ve never ventured into to. She got her BA in Political Science at Wesley and became a democrat. Following the assassination of Dr. King she organized a two-day student strike and worked with the black students at Wesley to try to keep the peace.

Hillary the entered Yale even though she was also accepted to Harvard but was put off by some male professor at Harvard that “we don’t need any more women at Harvard!” She would get her law degree there and set out to change the world. It was fate anyway, she met William Jefferson Clinton and the political power couple began a ride that would take them both to the Oval office and the White House. Grant Hill’s mother, Janet Hill was Hillary’s roommate and Yale and said, “We all knew Hillary would end up at the White House, but we thought she’d be the President.” Hillary is a former United States senator, former Secretary of State and former first lady of Arkansas and the United States. She is also not only your best option in 2016 but you’re getting her 8 years too late in my opinion.

I have never hidden from this position and never will. When Barack Hussein Obama ran for president in 2008 and was seeking the democratic nomination I DID NOT VOTE FOR HIM. I voted for Hillary Rodham Clinton. I thought she was better equipped to run the United States having been in politics since she was 13 and public office longer than the junior Senator from Chicago, Illinois. Obama had the backing of Oprah Winfrey and Beyoncé and Jay Z (don’t think that latter pair wasn’t important) and Hillary had the great Maya Angelou in her corner but it wasn’t enough. Even white America loves Oprah, and as it’s often been said, “Oprah is da man,” a billionaire is what she is. Never forget that money can buy you the Oval Office in this time we live in. So, although I am proud that this country elected a Black man to the White House, aside from the affordable healthcare act (something the republicans shut down when Hillary tried to force it through during Bill’s first term) he will go down as a failure as a president. In all fairness he was handed a shit pile of a country, we needed to move back into our standing as ‘The Standard by which ALL nations should pattern themselves after,” and he has made the United States look weaker. George W. Bush made us look stupid for 8 years. Now we are the weak and dumb nation that is the United States of America. We are a joke around the globe.

Hillary Clinton tried to warn you of this in 2008, and you didn’t listen. If you are around in 2016 perhaps you’ll listen then. What I don’t think people understand is you are only as good as your staff is when you are President of The United States. Ever wonder why Gen. Powell resigned under the “Little Bush”? When the Clintons left the White House this country had a surplus, and after the 8 year Bush administration we were in financial collapse. Same place we were headed after 8 years of Reagan and 4 from Big Bush, Bill Clinton saved this country and who better to advise your President than someone who was not only President but someone who excelled at it?

She’ll be even harder to beat in 2016. Why? That foreign policy the Republicans kept yammering on about that she didn’t have; she has it in the form of Secretary of State. Hillary and Bill have money, but they didn’t get it the old fashioned way– they earned it. No daddy’s millions to blow, no oil money to buy a baseball team that’s been a winner ever since Bush sold them, no special interest group to owe her hide to. Just the purest desire to see the country run better, and a plan and a partner to help her. Educate yourself on the issues and there is no better candidate inside the boarders of the United States. The Grand Ol’ Party is afraid of her. Why else would Karl Rove hint that she might have brain damage? The will beat the Benghazi drum until we’re dead, Hillary has taken responsibility for it but that is what a leader does, it takes responsibility when those beneath them fail them.

In short, when you’re good at something do it and do it to improve not only your life but lives of those around you. This is not a political endorsement, this is simply fact. Any statement made here, stands up to highest levels of scrutiny, not because it’s this publication’s job to do so (and it is) but because a women such as Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton deserves NOTHING less, to do so would not only dishonor her, but myself as well, and I won’t do that…
