What Really Matters When Getting Married?
“Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a bride. I imagined coming down that aisle slaying my dress with a long train, curls, strap free and seeing my future husband’s face light up,” Most women has said to their best friends. Well, in Hollywood at least. Marriage is one of the most decorated changes of life that people cannot wait to accomplish, but is there one way to get married? Do we all have to have the most elegant gown, at the most exquisite venue, and must all black families do the electric slide?
Strangely, No. The best ingredients for a marriage is God, true love, and the courage to stand up for what YOU want on that chosen day. It’s about staring in your lovers eyes and meaning the vows you say to each other. It’s about each individual finding the perfect specifics that suit the couple and just diving into God’s purpose.
We are all different; me and my guy want a small, intimidate wedding with a jamming reception. One person may not want those same attributes. However, who is to say what anyone else wants is an issue because it’s not like Carrie and Big’s? Or Beyoncé and Jay-Z? Or on a beach for everyone to enjoy?
As long as God’s first and the vision is what you want… I say go for what you know. Life is too short to worry about what other folks think especially when you’re everything is standing in your face saying, “I do.”
