Tk’s Take Week 4
Now that week 4 is behind us, I can finally say “How ‘Bout Them Cowboys?” I will caution my Cowboys brethren not to get overly excited as the NFL this year has more parody than in recent years. Having said that, they lead the league in rushing and Romo is playing mistake free and Dez Bryant is a BEAST. DeMarco Murray is playing for a contract and he’s running as if this is his absolute last chance to make any money. What impressed me most about the Dallas Cowboys, is that their offensive line in mauling people at the line of scrimmage. They are mean and nasty and they love each other, they spend all their time together and ANYBODY that knows football knows that when your O-line clicks on all cylinders you can BECOME unstoppable.
Week four started off again on Thursday with a division game and this time the home team lost. Kirk Cousins played about the worse game a man can play and needs to retire. In Cousins’ defense he was “jinxed” by Cindy “Jinxy” M. whom without a doubt is the biggest jinx in the history of sports. Fantasy owners now you have someone to blame. The Eagles (thank Source) finally showed they’re NOT who y’all thought they were. In a lopsided 21-26 lost to San Francisco, the Eagles scored zero (0) points on offense and managed six (6) yards rushing. All was not well when you have players grumbling about how hard you’re being driven.
Arron Rogers and the Packers proved to Green Bay fans that they could in fact “R-E-L-A-X” as they smacked around the Chicago Bears at home. The Lions beat the Jets 24-17 despite Calvin Johnson only catching 2 passes for a total of 12 yards. Johnson was nursing an injury. The Jets are an unmitigated disaster. Geno Smith is horrid at quarterback and Rex Ryan is sticking with him, in the end it won’t matter because Rex Ryan will be fired. Speaking of coaches who may get fired, Mike Tomlin is on a hot seat in Pittsburgh as the Steelers lost at home to a WIN LESS Buccaneers team. I don’t know what to tell the ‘Dirty Birds” down in Atlanta. They cannot win on the road apparently as they got stomped by the Minnesota Vikings 21-48 and looked clueless on defense.
The best division in football is still the NFC West that has the only undefeated team in the NFC the Arizona Cardinals who were on a bye. In Cincinnati, you have the only undefeated team of the AFC and as I told you last week, they were and remain the two best teams in football. San Diego is back and Tom Brady seems to be withering before our eyes. The Patriots looked like a shell of themselves and Brady needs to get pissed. They cannot protect him and Belichick may have made one move too many. Brady misses Welker and cannot get the ball to Gronk. Where do they go from here? Stomped 14-41? Kansas City is up and down.
The performance of the weekend has to be Steve Smith, Sr. As a former athlete, I know you never want to think you’re losing it, especially if there is no evidence that you are. He felt disrespected by Carolina when they cut him, and although one of his touchdowns was on a tipped pass, he played like a man possessed. Steve Smith is a little guy and some little guys are tough. To quote Sophia in “The Color Purple,” “All my life I had to fight.” Smith Sr. is a guy you want on your side and Carolina may have looked good in weeks 1 and 2 but they are God awful these past two weeks.
Next week, there will be a battle for Texas as the Cowboys will take on the Texans at home. Denver at Arizona will show me if the Cardinals are really real, and the Patriots could be in real trouble as they will host the Bengals who will be coming off a bye. Believe it or not, the rest of the league is at .500, there are a bunch of teams at 2-2 (I told you Buffalo was a joke) and only the Raiders have yet to record a win.
If the Atlanta Falcons hold true to form, they will get blown out again in New Jersey as they go to take on the Giants on Sunday. Your only hope, that Eli Manning is erratic again. Alex Smith will return to San Francisco and will probably trounce the 49ers who, if you believe Deion Sanders, and Harbaugh has lost his locker room. There was a game here in London Sunday, Miami beat the Raiders. Dallas will be coming to my beloved England. We cannot wait.
As we were going to press the Oakland Raiders fired head coach Dennis Allen and will name a successor later today.
Be sure to check us out on Friday in Man To Man where I promise, we’ll make our picks and do some fantasy advice.
