Fancy: 2014 EMA’s- Style Edition
What’s more special than the MTV Awards? The EMA’s!!! Fashion is taken to the ninth power. This year, the awards was hosted by none other than the HBIC of HipHop Ms. Nicki Minaj … ONICKA! Yesssss! She gave us life on top of life and more life! I love her style this year and how far she has come. I searched for clips of her performance but as of yet, I have come up empty handed. Her promo vid is just enough to give you an idea of how she planned to take over. Needless to say, her fashion was over the top but what do you expect? My favorite outfit was the red dress and shoes. She looked so gorgeous. I’ve always liked Nicki’s doll-like style.
There were some interesting outfits to say the least. I adore Emeli Sande but her outfit was rather … old. Being modest is great but you don’t have to look like you’re in your 60’s. While her hair and makeup is flawless, I thought she could have went with a dress more tailored to her body. Ariana Grande’s dress was very pretty and appropriate for her age. She didn’t show too much skin and it matches her persona. The classic black dress can be done in a million different ways. I’m happy that she went with a longer gown because she looks very small but this helped her graduate into a more womanly look. Alesha Dixon won hands down! That dress is really amazing. It has pink pinstripes with large colorful prints. And her shoes … pulled this look together in a very unique way. Kieszar’s multi-colored feather dress was awesome too. The shoes accentuated the stronger colors and was well put together.
Mixing prints is becoming the new look of year. Don’t be afraid to mix it up but make sure that your colors match well. For instance, chestnut or cognac goes with any color. Tie in gold, black, or white to add a neutral but finishing touch to the outfit and you are creating endless looks. I am definitely inspired by the looks. As always keep it fancy, fashion, and fun!
